Seniors Advocate/Public Member (Scarborough)

Executive Director, SACHAYS

Mahesh Nileshwar has been volunteering and has been serving the Scarborough community since his arrival from the Middle East in 2002.


In addition to providing all the support to the community during COVID he and South Asian Cultural and Health Association for Youth and Seniors (SACHAYS) have been providing services to Seniors / Youth & Families.


He has been conferred with ‘Volunteer Appreciation Award’ by an MP for his work during

COVID, providing masks, sanitizers, culturally specific Hot Meals to Chinese, Indian, Arabic and Sri Lankan community members.


He has been twice awarded with the ‘Queen Elizabeth Platinum award’ for his dedication and support to vulnerable seniors, youth, and families of GTA and King Charles III Coronation Medal


In addition to being Board of Directors many Charitable and Non- Profit Organizations in and around GTA, he is also member of:

  1. Community Policing Liaison Committee of 42 Division of Toronto Police Service

  2. Initiated into Legion 614 as a honorary member for all the support provided to the Legion and our Veterans.


Under his able guidance SACHAYS was awarded the City of Toronto Community Champion Award in 2023 and in 2025.


He works with all levels of Government (MP, MPP and city councilors) and considered an authority on programs for Seniors.


SACHAYS is also in General Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (UN).


He is very well respected in the community and lives with his wife and two kids.
